Achieving Smart Investments for Smart Solutions

Event information

Part of Arena: Smart Industry.

There is an urgent need for the cities to accelerate the implementation of smart solutions to be able to meet e.g. the Paris agreement or challenges connected to urbanization e.g. energy, waste, mobilization. One important part is to bring together representatives from both the “owner of the challenges”- the cities and the “solutions providers” in the private sector. This seminar will bring these two players together to discuss how to work together to meet challenges connected to sustainable city development. The seminar will focus on cooperation models, investments and policies needed. One of the outcomes of the seminar is to conclude on recommendations to the global political process under Clean Energy Ministerial. The suggested recommendations to discuss are:

– Foster Free Trade and Standardization for deployment of technology
– Public Procurement as a mean to stimulate innovations
– Systemic approach, i.e. handling the different infrastructure and parts of the cities as one system

We let representatives from two Nordic cities (Uppsala and Vaasa) meet with industry to discuss possible ways to make investments more efficient and making use of modern solutions. We use experiences as examples, and let new ideas come through. We also add a perspective from the Indian market, and try to find lessons to learn from both parts. The result will be ideas and inspiration to develop policies, regulations and mind sets in order to make better use of clean solutions.
