Smart grid as keystone in the future smart energy system
In connection with the Nordic Clean Energy Week the MI IC#1 working group will gather for the third time in Malmø and Copenhagen this May.
The purpose of this public Mission Innovation Smart Grids workshop is to gather decision makers, experts and others with interest in intelligent energy systems to discuss the latest advancements around the world, innovation priorities and identify international collaboration possibilities, business opportunities as well as innovation potentials. The workshop will discuss smart electricity grids and focus on the integration of different energy systems (electricity, heating, gas, transportation etc.).
The workshop is organized by Mission Innovation Challenge #1 ‘Smart Grids’ Working Group in collaboration with the Danish Partnership for Smart Energy Networks and Swedish forum for smart energy, and will contribute to the further development of the Mission Innovation collaboration.
The workshop takes place in the Copenhagen Nordhavn; the largest city development area in northern Europe, which act as a living lab for integrated smart energy solutions.

Smart Energy Networks is Denmark’s national public-private partnership for Smart Energy. The network acts as catalyst and initiator of a strengthened strategic agenda for research, development and demonstration (RD&D) that will support energy policy goals as well as attractive and sustainable growth conditions for Danish trades and industries.
The network brings together the Danish energy companies, industry and knowledge institutions within electricity, heating, cooling and gas.
Established in 2014, the role of the Smart Energy Networks partnership is to enable optimal exploitation of resources through strategic planning for Research, Development and Demonstration of integrated and intelligent energy systems.
The network is supported by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP).
Copenhagen Nordhavn is one of Europes largest city development areas, which will make room for 40,000 people and 40,000 job over a 50 years period. The area has a high focus on sustainable solutions and as the first city district in the world, it got the DGNB sustainability certification.
Denmark’s largest smart energy RD&D project ever, EnergyLab Nordhavn (www.energylabnordhavn.dk) funded by EUDP, takes place in the city area. A wide range of smart energy solutions are exposed in the area (smart electricity grid, grid battery storage, smart buildings, eMobility, smart district heating, new business models, novel data management etc.).
The workshop location is the EnergyHub, a newly inauguration incubator environment for startups and established businesses within sustainable energy solutions in the smart city. EnergyHub includes the EnergyLab Nordhavn showroom.
