Greater Copenhagen is a metropolitan region consisting of approximately 4 million inhabitants and is the most densely populated area in Scandinavia. Encompassing 79 municipalities in total, it stretches from the eastern part of Denmark to the Skåne region located in Southern Sweden.  In 2016, Region Zealand, the Capital Region of Denmark and Region Skåne joined to establish the Greater Copenhagen Committee, which works to promote economic collaboration and regional growth. Greater Copenhagen offers a highly skilled workforce, a wealth of research and higher education institutions, robust infrastructure, good transport links to other European countries, strong competencies in renewable energy, energy efficiency sustainable waste and water management and high life quality.
